About
Medical sales career coaching from someone who had the science degree, still heard no more than 60 times, and only broke in after asking for help.
Medical Sales Career Lab is a career coaching practice for people trying to break into medical device, biotech and related healthcare sales. Our founder has spent 10+ years in medical sales, and got there by treating every rejection as information about how hiring managers actually decide. There were more than 60 of them. What came out of that is the approach clients get access to now.
Why do qualified people keep getting rejected from medical sales?
Because the industry screens for proof most candidates were never taught to show, and almost no one on the inside will explain what that proof looks like.
Over a decade ago, our founder set out to break into medical sales and kept hearing no. Over and over. More than 60 times.
No sales experience. No industry connections. No one willing to explain what hiring managers were actually looking for, or why the answer kept coming back no.
What actually gets you hired in medical sales?
Proof that you compete, that you learn fast, and that you can sell. Not a specific degree, and not a sales title.
The shift was learning how to show hiring managers real competitiveness, drive, and the ability to strategize, learn and sell, without a traditional medical sales resume to back it up. Nothing on the resume changed. The way it was translated did.
Once that clicked, everything changed. Offers started coming, consistently. Since then, our founder has spent over a decade in medical sales, starting in biotech, then moving into medical device sales with a focus on orthopedics.
Where have Medical Sales Career Lab clients been placed?
Across six sectors of healthcare sales: veterinary, dental, orthopedic, biotech, laboratory and capital equipment.
Along the way, friends and acquaintances started asking for help, and were personally guided into the industry too. Several of them have tripled their salaries over time. Clients now work at companies including Stryker, Zimmer Biomet and Hologic.
What does Medical Sales Career Lab actually do?
We translate the experience you already have into the evidence a medical sales hiring manager is looking for.
What all of those rejections and a decade of helping others get their first yes revealed is this: most people trying to break into medical sales aren't missing potential. They're missing someone who can show them how to translate what they already have into what hiring managers are actually screening for.
That is why Medical Sales Career Lab exists, to be that person for you. We know what it takes to get through the door that seems impossible to open, and we're here to help you get there faster.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Breaking into medical sales, answered
Do you need a science degree to get into medical sales?
No. Most medical sales reps break in without a science degree. Most companies do require a bachelor's degree, but the major matters far less than candidates expect. What hiring managers screen for is evidence of competitiveness, coachability and the ability to sell, which can come from athletics, hospitality, retail, teaching, the military or any role where you had to win something.
Do you need prior sales experience to break into medical sales?
No. Most reps break in without prior B2B sales experience. The gap is usually not the background. It is that the background has not been translated into the language a medical device hiring manager uses to compare candidates.
What kinds of medical sales roles do you help people land?
Clients have been placed across veterinary, dental, orthopedic, biotech, laboratory and capital equipment sales, at companies including Stryker, Zimmer Biomet and Hologic.
Do you work with people already in medical sales?
Yes. Alongside candidates trying to break in, we work with reps who are stuck in their role and want to move into a different sector, a larger territory or a higher-earning line.
How do you work with clients?
Through three packages covering resume and LinkedIn rebuilds, interview preparation, and a guided path from application to offer, plus a limited number of 1:1 coaching engagements taken by application.
